Comprehensive Plan Approved
Coeur d’Alene Park is an important place
In 2015, the comprehensive plan for Coeur d’Alene Park was approved by the Spokane Park Board. The plan blends the historic character of the park with the modern needs of the park’s visitors. Some of the plan’s specifications include new entryways, a perimeter path with exercise stations, and a greenway allee of trees running east to west through the park and into the neighborhood. Truly, as the plan explains, “Coeur d’Alene Park is a deeply sentimental and symbolically important place in the hearts of the surrounding residents.”
Comprehensive plan into action
During the Fall of 2016, neighborhood residents noticed workers busily planting trees along 3rd Avenue and through Coeur d’Alene Park. Two parallel rows of trees frame a walkway that runs from Overlook Park past the gazebo to elm Street. This allee of trees connects the major green spaces of Browne’s Addition. As the trees grow, a pleasant walkway of autumn color will delight the residents of the neighborhood.
